The following details how to configure the default eMail client that comes pre-installed on an Apple iPad ®.
Configuration of other eMail clients that are available from the Apple app store is not covered here. However if you require assistance with another eMail client please email: support@mgw.org.uk, and provide details of the eMail client you are using together with a link to it's location in the App Store.
Clock on the iPad settings icon:
Which takes you into "Settings" where you should click on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
Click on "Add Account"
then click on "Other"
then click on "Add Mail Account"
At the "New Account" screen fill in the following:
Once completed, click "Next" to continue:
For the "INCOMING MAIL SERVER" set the following:
For the "OUTGOING MAIL SERVER" set the following:
Note: The "User Name" and "Password" is the same for both the Incoming & Outgoing mail servers.
Once completed, click "Next" to continue:
Then click "Save" to save your newly entered settings:
Email is now almost ready to use. You just need to configure the "Special Folders" as shown below.
In order for the iPad eMail client to function correctly, a few remaining customisation steps need to be carried out as detailed below. Firstly go back into
and
then select your eMail address/account from under the "Accounts" section of "Settings", for example:

which takes you to IMAP settings for your eMail account.
Then click on the "Advanced" link:
You now need to change the following three folders from being local to your iPad to being on the eMail server
First click on the "Drafts Mailbox", and then make sure that "Drafts" is checked as being "ON THE SERVER" rather than "ON MY IPAD".
Then click on "<Advanced" to save the setting.
Next click on the "Deleted Mailbox", and then make sure that "Trash" is checked as being "ON THE SERVER" rather than "ON MY IPAD".
Then click on "<Advanced" to save the setting.
Finally click on the "Sent Mailbox", and then make sure that "Sent" is checked as being "ON THE SERVER" rather than "ON MY IPAD".
Then click on "<Advanced" to save the setting.
To save your changes, click on "<Account",
followed by clicking on "Done".
eMail is now ready for you to use.
Locate the eMail icon shown below on your iPad, clicking on it should take you to your eMail. The number in red indicates the number of unread eMails you have.
