Setting up "Windows 7 - Windows Live Email" client

Overview

Windows Live Mail is the default eMail client supplied with Windows 7, replacing Microsoft Outlook that was shipped with previous releases of Windows®

When firing up the Windows Live Mail client for the first time the following will be displayed

If you have already configured Windows Live Mail previously for another eMail service, then click on the 'Accounts' tab, followed by the Email@+ icon, which will display the 'Add your email accounts' menu as shown above.

Configuration

Fill out your:

  • Email address:
  • Password:
  • Display Name

and ensure the 'Manually configure server settings' is ticked, plus optionally 'Remember this password'

Click 'Next' to take you to the 'Configure server settings' screen

Incoming Mail Server

Change the following for 'Incoming server information'

  • Server Type: to IMAP
  • Server Address: to mailbox.mgwmail.org
  • Ensure 'Requires a secure connection (SSL)' is ticked
  • The above should set the 'Port:' to 993, but if it doesn't set it to 993
  • Login User Name: to your full email address

Outgoing Mail Server

Change the following for 'Outgoing server information'

  • Server Address: to postbox.mgwmail.org
  • Port: to 587
  • Ensure 'Requires a secure connection (SSL)' is ticked
  • Ensure 'Requires authentication' is ticked

Save settings

Click 'Next' to save your settings

Click 'Finish' to exit the account creation process and go to your eMail (which should now begin to download).
